Retain the width statement
The selected kraft and indented products list 24 in paper width. The current GreenWrap page lists 19 in wide with its expanded-length statement. We retain those supplier descriptions. This reference has not measured the usable edge-to-edge width of a delivered cut or established how expansion changes the usable presentation for a particular task.
Do not silently deduct or add width
Do not substitute a roll carton dimension, dispenser width or the largest number in a shipping specification for paper width. Likewise, do not deduct a guessed edge allowance and call the result a manufacturer guarantee. Usable width is a separate field to confirm if a cut plan depends on it.
A width-sensitive example
Suppose a hypothetical task requires two 12 in-wide strips across one sheet. A nominal 24 in width is exactly the arithmetic sum, but any required trimming, cutting gap or unusable edge could change that plan. We have not shown that the selected roll supplies two usable 12 in strips. The example identifies why a nominal dimension alone may be insufficient.
What to ask before buying
Ask the supplier whether the stated width is nominal, what tolerance or usable-width information is available, and how the selected material should be measured. Keep your required strip width and any allowance separate. The length tools on this site do not calculate a guaranteed cross-width nesting yield or infer protection from the area of paper purchased.
A cut gap changes an exact fit
Two 12 in strips sum to 24 in before any cutting gap or edge allowance. If the actual plan requires any additional width, the nominal sum no longer establishes a fit. This is a geometry illustration, not a statement that every selected paper needs a particular trimming allowance. Confirm usable width and the actual cutting process before ordering tightly fitted stock.
Do not confuse dispenser size
The current GreenWrap page lists dispenser dimensions separately from paper dimensions. An outside case or dispenser width cannot be substituted for the sheet width. The same distinction applies to a roll shipping carton. Keep each dimension labeled by the object it describes so an equipment or space plan does not silently use the wrong number.
Nominal area has limited meaning
Multiplying 24 in, or 2 ft, by 1200 ft gives 2400 nominal square feet for the flat kraft declaration. That mathematical area does not guarantee 2400 usable square feet after any actual cuts or losses. It also supplies no protective capacity. Our three purchase tools deliberately stay with supported length and order-unit arithmetic rather than claiming usable-area yield.
Preserve the original units
Twenty-four inches converts to 60.96 cm. That exact conversion does not improve the underlying nominal-width tolerance or turn it into a measured width. Save the original supplier statement beside the conversion. Extra decimal places should not be read as proof that a delivered roll was checked to a fraction of a millimeter.
A useful clarification request
Tell the supplier the required strip width, number of strips across and any actual process allowance. Ask whether the selected SKU has a guaranteed usable-width specification suitable for that plan. We have not obtained such a guarantee and do not infer it from the 24 in catalog title or a generic blank ruler in our illustrations.
