Measure the relevant process
The roll planner accepts a parcel count and a user-chosen length per parcel in a declared material basis. It does not derive protective use from product mass, fragility or box size. No length default should be read as the amount a package needs to survive shipment.
Keep the assumption explicit
For a hypothetical 100 parcels using 4 ft each, the unadjusted chosen requirement is 400 ft. If the user adds 10%additional allowance measured against that used length, the modeled requirement is 440 ft. This is arithmetic for an explicitly chosen scenario, not an observed average from a fulfillment operation or a recommended cushioning quantity.
Add an allowance with a defined meaning
The allowance means extra length added to the selected use total. It is not a measured waste rate or the percentage of purchased stock that disappears. Those definitions lead to different calculations. Keep the field meaning visible and do not silently substitute an inverse-loss formula for an additive allowance.
Check the full packing question separately
Before a real order, confirm that the consumption measurement and roll declaration use the same flat-feed or expanded basis. Then resolve actual pack-out suitability and any relevant testing separately. This reference has not wrapped a named product, measured damage or established a protective layer count. A whole-roll result answers a buying-quantity question only.
The allowance definition matters
For 400 ft of chosen use, a 10%additional allowance adds 40 ft and gives 440 ft. If someone instead defined loss as 10%of all purchased stock, an inverse calculation would give a different number. Our field uses the additive definition only. Do not swap the meanings while comparing results or describe the assumed percentage as measured operating waste.
Keep the measurement before or after expansion
A process using GreenWrap must state whether its chosen length is recorded expanded or before expansion. The selected supply declaration is expanded. The tool does not supply a conversion ratio for a mismatched process. Choose matching verified measurements before using the whole-case output as a purchase quantity.
Include every relevant paper component in a log
If a real process uses both a wrap and separate void fill, record them separately with their own material and basis. One line for 4 ft of paper does not identify which role or product it covers. The site has not observed that process and does not distribute the total among materials by a guessed ratio.
A chosen target is not a recommendation
A 100-parcel example can make the arithmetic understandable without asserting that every business should stock for 100 orders. Enter an actual chosen order requirement and document how it was set. The planner does not forecast customer demand, seasonal orders or protective layer counts from keyword data or a product photo.
Validate the other question independently
If the pack-out must meet a protection requirement, obtain relevant evidence for that configuration separately. After that requirement is established, a measured or chosen consumption length can support purchasing. This site does not infer a damage rate from the amount entered or reduce the amount to make a lower-priced roll look sufficient.
